Bible, Bible, Bible
Praise & Prayer Report #1, January - February, 2026
How to Miss a Flight God’s Way.
After one of our instructors left the recent advanced training in Hemet, God opened several amazing doors. She shared that she doesn't usually just approach strangers and talk to them. However, after practicing our STS 5-minute conversational Bible stories for the last couple weeks she thought, "Maybe God wants me to tell a story to somebody."
She told her first story to a man waiting for his flight. Her second opportunity came when a couple sitting next to her on the way to Dallas asked what she did for work. She responded with, ”I teach people to tell Bible stories that transform lives. Can I share a story with you?”
While waiting to board the flight in Dallas, “Bob,” a man next to her in line, mentioned how cold it was that day. This opened the next conversation that went something like this.
"Where are you headed? What do you do?"
Of course, the man answered and then asked our instructor what she did.
Again, our instructor responded, "Yeah, I travel around and teach people how to share Bible stories in a way that transforms people's lives."
The man’s eyes got big, but the line kept moving. They were not seated next to each other, but after mentioning Simply The Story, Bob said, “That's something that I'm gonna look up.’” (Instructor and ”Bob” in picture.)
On the flight to Dallas, the instructor shared the story of the lost sheep with the woman seated next to her on the flight. They had a great discussion. Mid-flight, the captain announced that due to icy conditions at their destination, they had to return to Dallas.
Back in Dallas, while waiting for the next flight our instructor saw Bob again. Bob was talking with two other guys, but despite her hesitation that there were now three people, she joined in their conversation. She soon learned that Bob had already gone to the STS website. With that, she asked the 3 men if they wanted to hear a story. They said yes. Once again, she shared the story of the lost sheep. During their discussion, Bob asked what repentance is. Instead of defining repentance, our instructor decided it would be better to tell a story that showed repentance. She told the story of Zacchaeus.
After this, the men wanted another story. Looking at her watch, our instructor realized it was time for their flight to depart. They rushed to the gate but missed their flight! The instructor felt horrible that she had caused them to miss the plane. But the 3 men were fine with it, and the four spent more time talking together. Bob continued to ask questions; he was clearly searching for the Truth.
During their time talking, Bob commented that he did not have a Bible. At baggage claim, our instructor pulled her Bible from her suitcase and gave it to him. He was deeply touched– shaking and overwhelmed.
Our instructor still can’t get over the fact that God used her to tell 5 Bible stories on the way home and she even missed a flight because people were so engaged in the Bible story.
Fear and Perfectionism Take a Backseat to Bible Stories
One attendee at our training in Hemet said that she had never shared her faith until we went out for our 5-minute conversational outreach practice. For years she has struggled to do anything public, such as witnessing or teaching Bible studies. As a result, she has felt convicted. I have heard this struggle from people in many places. People know that they should share the gospel, but they do not know how.
STS fills in the gap of "how to share your faith."
While getting a tea at the store, the opportunity to do an STS Bible story arose. In spite of her fear and perfectionism, our sister witnessed to someone for the first time and she did it with a Bible story,
After everyone returned from the outing, this sister shared, "I can see God working even though I'm terrified. So, I'll just say that I'm blessed and that I'm glad that I had the opportunity to come here and learn the system.”
One More Tool in a Ministry's Tool Belt
One ministry had 3 people attending our Hemet training. As a result, they are now planning to implement STS into their life groups, their fellowships, and their overseas ministries. A few years ago, their ministry in South Sudan brought in a new leader. This man was also an STS trained instructor. As a result, the ministry has experienced tremendous growth in that country. .
We will be partnering with this same ministry this month in Manila at a Bible college. Please pray for both our ministries as we partner to bring STS into other parts of their ministry.
Hemet Training and Bible Discoveries.
We had several nations represented at our Hemet training in January, including Thailand, Israel, Togo, Mexico, S. Sudan, and the US. The workshop’s Lead Instructor even grew up in Brazil and speaks Portuguese!
Our training provided many opportunities for improving the skills of storytellers, helping others to grow spiritually, and discovering new insights into God's Word. Here is one of the insights that was discovered:
Exodus 18:5-12 is the story of Moses' father-in-law Jethro bringing Moses' wife and two sons to him after Moses returned from Egypt. Jethro, who was a Midianite priest, responded with burnt offerings and praise for the LORD of Israel after hearing the testimonies of all the LORD did with the Pharaoh and the Egyptians. The advanced students discovered that because Moses shared the testimonies of God's goodness and Jethro responded well, the students felt they themselves could share the testimonies of God’s goodness with non-believers, which might help them to learn more about the LORD as well.
Our youngest storyteller at the training, under 10 years old, told the story from Genesis 18:1-5 about the LORD appearing to Abraham in the plains of Mamre. She asked only a few questions, but the questions allowed us to think deeper about the story. She asked us why God might allow Abraham to prepare food, fetch water, and clean their feet if God does not need those things? This question led to the applications of how God allows us to be part of what He's doing even though He does not necessarily need us.
We will post this young lady's story on our Youtube station soon. We also plan to share the various stories done during the advanced training on our Heart Pocket Podcast over the next few months. The storytellers share these stories without a Bible in hand (and yes, they have accuracy checkers). These are some of the skills we teach at our training. After discussing a story during the training, multiple story tellers said, “Now I want to tell that story.” Maybe you’ll want to tell one of these stories too.
We have had several children attend our training throughout the years. I hope this encourages anyone wondering if they can be part of an advanced training, the answer is yes.
Upcoming trainings
We would love to see you at a training in Israel in March, Europe in February, or even Kentucky in early May. We are planning another advanced training in June either in Kentucky or back in Hemet. Visit www.simplythestory.org for the schedule of upcoming workshops under the Training Info menu. You can also request training if you know a group that would benefit from this training.
Pray for the upcoming 13 languages of God’s Story that are scheduled to be recorded in Nigeria, a country in need of God’s Word. .
Thank you all for your prayers and support.
